Dr Mark Brophy


Dr Mark Brophy is a Fulbright Scholar and has worked in the education and training sector for over 22 years in Universities, TAFE institutions, industry associations and the government.


Becoming interested in study circles during his post graduate studies, Mark was awarded a Phd in 2002 for an extensive participatory action research investigation into the study circle process.

Kaye Bowman


Kaye Bowman is a consultant in education and training and regional development, strategic planning, research and performance measurement. Her career highlights include State Ministerial advisor on regional development, Director in the former Australian National Training Autthority and General Manager of NCVER (the national centre for vocationaleducation research).

Dr Sandra Haukka


Dr Sandra Haukka is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Creative Workforce program of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation, and a Research Fellow at Eidos Institute. She has undertaken research projects in all sectors of education, and is currently managing a large Government-funded project on occupational mobility. See here for more information.

Tony Ryan

ALA Visiting Media Fellow


Tony Ryan's work over many years has combined interests in education and broadcasting into a career in educational broadcasting. His current lifelong learning radio and internet project, a weekly radio series called Learning Works, is produced and presented each week on PBA FM in Adelaide - see www.learningworksradio.com. He is currently producing programs in preparation for Adult Learners Week in SA.


In addition to his earlier work for many years with ABC Radio, for the Australian College of Educators and the National Library of Australia, he has been doing extensive recordings for the national oral history project Conversations. Recently he has also been recording oral history interviews in preparation for Adult Learning Australia's fiftieth anniversary in 2010, and is a regular contributor to Quest.


A graduate of both The University of Sydney and The University of Adelaide, and Fellow of the Australian College of Educators and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Tony is currently undertaking the national College Archives project for the Australian College of Educators. As a Visiting Media Fellow for ALA in 2007, he is pleased to continue his long involvement with ALA which commenced back in 1984.
